Documents Needed:
To apply for the scholarship, you will must need to provide the following documents:
- Curriculum vitae (CV) or a list of your main activities. Remember not to include a photo in your CV for this scholarship.
- Proof of your academic record, including transcripts of your undergraduate degree and any postgraduate studies you have undertaken.
- A personal statement or essay, which should include a clear explanation of what you want to study at Oxford and why.

(4) Those who have been chosen as potential candidates will receive an invitation to attend a social gathering and a final interview. It is important that you are available to participate in both of these events in person, as no arrangements can be made for alternative dates, times, or methods. Without an interview, no candidate will be selected. The Rhodes Trust will cover the expenses for travel, including a First Class rail ticket for a round trip, but excluding hotel costs. However, international travel expenses for those coming from other countries cannot be provided.

Selection Process:
Selection for the Rhodes Scholarship is based solely on merit, without considering financial status. Rhodes Scholarship recipients are selected only based on their skills and abilities. Providing such information in the ‘Outreach’ section of the application form is optional, but it helps us ensure fairness in our selection process and effectiveness in our outreach efforts. Those involved in the selection will only have access to anonymized summary statistics, without any trace back to individuals. You are applying for a Rhodes Scholarship to begin studies at the University of Oxford in October 2021.
The scholarship cannot be deferred. The Rhodes Scholarship is given only if you are accepted to the University of Oxford. If a suitably qualified candidate cannot be found, no selection will be made. The decision made by the Selection Committee is final.
After being selected:
- Please be aware that if you are chosen, you will need to apply to the University of Oxford shortly after your selection. We will provide you with all the necessary information once you are selected.
- Rhodes House in Oxford will have access to the complete applications of successful candidates. They may use the scholarship references from those applications, if applicable, to support the candidates’ subsequent application to the University of Oxford.
- We strongly encourage successful candidates to confidentially disclose any medical conditions or special needs that may require academic or personal assistance in Oxford. This disclosure is completely voluntary and is only requested to ensure that Rhodes House can provide appropriate support and facilitate a smooth transition to Oxford.
